Former Maine, Northeastern coach Keeling dies

LONDONDERRY, N.H. (AP) -- Former Maine and Northeastern coach Rudy Keeling has died.

Both universities announced that Keeling died Saturday in Londonderry, N.H. after an illness. He was 64.

Keeling coached the Black Bears from 1988 until 1996 where he compiled a record of 104-124. He earned North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1993-94 while leading Maine to a school record 20 wins.

He coached the Huskies from 1996 until 2001, compiling a 48-92 record.

He previously served as an assistant at Marquette and Bradley.

After leaving Northeastern he was athletic director at Emerson College in Boston and commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference.

Keeling was married with four children.
